I Got Caught

I Got Caught - Children & Helmets: This program allows law enforcement officials to reward children seen wearing a helmet during appropriate outdoor activities such as biking, rollerblading and skateboarding. Children found wearing their helmets can be rewarded with a coupon for a free Dairy Queen ice cream cone. Other traffic safety partners participating in the program include HCMC and Safe Kids MN as well as KSTC TV which runs on air promotion of helmet safety and “I Got Caught”.

I Got Caught - Teens & Seatbelts: AAA has expanded the “I Got Caught” program to include rewards for teenage drivers and passengers who wear their seat belts. AAA is partnering with the Minnesota Sheriffs Association, the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association and Metro Area Safe Communities to create a positive reinforcement campaign to encourage and reward seat belt use among Minnesota’s teenagers statewide. Law enforcement may work in conjunction with high schools that choose to “catch” teens using seat belts upon arrival to or departure from school facilities and/or events. These rewards are not to be used as part of any traffic stop. Rewards have included free music download cards as well as food and amusement park ride coupons.
