World's Largest Lite-Brite Created in St Paul

Bookmark and Share

Remember as a kid playing with your Lite-Brite and seeing what you could create?

Well, one group in St. Paul is trying to create a really big one, and get something even bigger in return.

To kick off their Million Dollar Idea Challenge, the St. Paul Foundation has commissioned the world's largest Lite-Brite, which calls for more than half a million of those little light pegs. The group wouldn't disclose how much the project cost the group, which is entirely privately funded, but we did the math and it comes out to near $30,000 just for the colored pegs.

The bright idea behind the Lite-Brite is to encourage people to submit their own ideas for the contest to help St. Paul.

"Anyone can enter from Minnesota," said Ann Mulholland of the St. Paul Foundation. "What we're looking for is great ideas, and we think we're going to get a whole lot of them."

The world-record Lite-Brite will be unveiled at the St. Paul Union Depot on Feb. 16. More importantly, you can still submit your million-dollar idea here. All Minnesotans are encouraged to enter.

For a fun distraction, you can create your own electronic Lite-Brite art here!
