|"I enjoy working at 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS because it feels like family. A family cares. A family has roots. There's a big difference between just working at a company and working with a family."|
Tim joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in September 2006. From 1999 through 2005 he anchored morning news at KMSP-TV in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Since leaving his former station he worked for a year as a writer on several marketing projects. Prior to his arrival in Minnesota, Tim worked at WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida, first as an entertainment reporter and later as anchor/reporter for a news and entertainment magazine show called "DecoDrive". While there, Tim traveled extensively covering news and entertainment stories. Tim also worked for several years at KUSA-TV in Denver, Colorado. He was first hired as a promotion writer/producer, later promoted to assistant promotions manager, then to on-air promotions manager. Tim began his on-air career as a feature reporter on KUSA-TV's "Good Afternoon Colorado" for nearly three years before the station dropped the show. He worked for a cable spin-off craft and project show called "Start To Finish" for another year. Tim began his professional broadcasting career at ABCNews in New York as a production assistant in the promotion department. His first job was in the 7th grade (following in his brother's footsteps) as a paperboy for the Washington Post.
Tim attended Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, and transferred to New York University where he worked as a teacher's assistant until graduation. While at NYU, Tim was part of a small hand-picked class called "University Broadcast Lab" that produced a weekly program for public television. This program aired in New York City, prior to the penetration of cable in the city. While attending college, Tim was an intern and later desk assistant at ABCNews. He was first the interview coordinator for "Good Morning America" then desk assistant on "This Week" and "World News Tonight - Weekend". He worked in the same newsrooms as David Brinkley and Sam Donaldson, watching and learning as much as he could from these news legends.
Awards and Recognition
As a paperboy, Tim earned his first award/recognition for being one of only a handful of paperboys to complete his route during a paralyzing D.C. blizzard. He received two Emmy Awards for writing and producing at KUSA-TV. Tim also received a "Golden Pick" from the governor's office for a public service announcement he created.
