Kate Renner - Reporter

"I toured KSTP in 9th grade for a job shadow and that's when I caught the journalism bug. It's a dream to be back home covering the community I care about and telling the stories of people I consider my neighbors."

Previous Experience
Kate joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in April 2012 from KEZI-TV in Eugene, OR where she anchored the 5:00 & 6:30 evening newscasts. She began her career in Grand Junction, Colorado, where she anchored the weekend news and also served as executive producer.

Education
Kate is a St. Paul native who went to Mounds View High School and graduated from the University of St. Thomas magna cum laude with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Theology.

Personal Interests
Kate has traveled the world and those experiences have given her the opportunity to bring a global perspective to the local stories she covers. She spent three months in Uganda volunteering with an organization that works to empower women who have been displaced by civil war. She also studied abroad in Europe and on "Semester at Sea" while at St. Thomas. Kate is proud of her volunteer work with Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past four years.
